Introduction

This manual was created for the 2024 National Goaltending Symposium as part of the USAH Goaltending Gold-level certification program. The proposed methodology intends to shift how the hockey community frames and thinks about evaluations. In this system, the goal is not to assess and rank talent. Rather, the aim is to holistically assess the goaltender as they make decisions and interact with their environment. The end result is to provide actionable feedback and insight that will help the athlete develop.

More information on the rationale behind this system can be found via this presentation and within the broader evaluation toolkit.

This system is intended for the betterment of goaltending worldwide and is therefore provided free of charge under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 licensing. Given the ever-changing nature of the game, I invite users to continue the work, adapting, revising, and improving the system as I intend to do.
