A high-level mind map of the holistic evaluation criteria.
How well can the goaltender process what’s going on in front of them?
How well can the goaltender see what’s going on?
Acquisition: Find the puck, especially after losing sight.
Tracking: Follow a puck throughout its motion and trajectory.
Focus: Consistently/appropriately switch focus from narrow to wide range. Includes peripheral vision and “look off.”
How well can the goaltender understand what’s going on?
Play Reading: Read and anticipate plays, and understand how they develop.
Pattern Recognition: Recognize patterns within the game, including plays or shots.
Awareness: Rapidly take in information, including an assessment of threats.
